Members of the Society gather at the Cockstane in Glenshee
every three years for a formal Gathering. In other years there
may be an informal gathering at the Cockstane*.
Formal gatherings are generally
held around the forth Saturday in August to coincide with the
nearby Strathardle Games. Events are organised across the
weekend of the Gathering and there is plenty of time for
members to socialise and make new friends.
A typical agenda for a Gathering
weekend is:
● Friday Afternoon:
Members arrive in
Perthshire.
● Friday Evening:
Chief's reception & welcome.
Informal buffet at a local
hotel.
● Saturday
Morning:
Ceremony at the Cockstane.
● Saturday
Afternoon:
Strathardle Highland
Games.
(or other events if the
Gathering and the Games do not
coincide)
● Saturday
Evening:
Society Dinner.
●
Sunday Morning:
Society AGM.
● Sunday
Lunchtime:
Bar Lunch.
● Sunday
Afternoon:
Visits to Clan sites in the area
or sporting
events.
● Sunday
Evening:
Ceilidh.
●
Monday Morning:
Farewells.
In recent years some of the
Gatherings have been somewhat more ambitions. For example in
2017 a visit to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tatoo was
included.

Some members may extend
their stays to explore more of this beautiful area of
Scotland.
