Members outside UK, Continental Europe and the
USA may be surprised when they receive their copies of the
Clan Magazine, Clach Na Coileach.

Astonishingly the
envelopes will bear a total of eight postage stamps - see
photograph below. It appears that the Royal Mail in the UK set
the prices to overseas destinations but then make no attempt
to print stamps to match the prices. Furthermore they seem to
give no guidance to Post Office staff who sell the stamps on
how the correct value can be made up using the minimum number
of stamps.

Members may find
this amusing - however your Webmaster does not. He had to
stick all those stamps onto 31 envelopes! The good news
is that copies of the Clach for the USA are sent by
courier and then mailed locally on that side of the pond.
Otherwise there would have been another 80 odd envelopes to
label in this way.

Mailing to the UK
only uses a single stamp and to Continental Europe
two.

The world really
has gone mad!!!

Since adding this page your Webmaster has discovered that the
mailing could have been done with just three stamps per
envelope.
