The parish records for Catholic births and
baptisms in Scotland have been brought together by the
Scottish Catholic Archives project - although it should be
mentioned that, for a number of reasons, it has not been
possible for all births and baptisms to be included. The
indexes and images for the records that are available can now
be viewed on the ScotlandsPeople website. As
part of a promotional offer the Clan MacThomas genealogy team
extracted details of relevant records from the indexes
and these are listed on the attached pages. Members wishing to
view the image of an actual document can do this via
ScotlandsPeople. There will be a charge for
doing this.

The data here includes records where either
the infant is registered with the Surname "Thomas"
or "Thomson". The records are sorted alphabetically according
to the surname, forename(s) and date of birth of the infant.
In a limited number of cases, where the Father is not
known, the infant may be registered with the Mother's
surname. Records are shown verbatim.
*****
This data includes all
records that are listed on the indexes for the
Surnames "Thomas" and "Thomson" - irrespective of where in
Scotland the birth or baptism took
place. We must stress that inclusion on this list
does not signify that the infant is a MacThomas. Further research must be carried
out to establish where in Scotland (or possibly
elsewhere) the family originated - and only those who can
trace their roots back to the North Eastern counties of
Scotland are likely to be members of our
Clan.

The records for the main Clan MacThomas Sept names are
listed on a separate page (
