Tattoo - More about the Gathering
Point for Marchers
The Society previously published general
information about the Gathering point for those clansfolk
marching in tartan behind their Chief at the Start
of the Tattoo. We can now be a little more
specific.
******
We have already advised that the meeting place will
be in the Lawnmarket and that you mast be there by 6.40
pm on Thursday 24 August at the very latest. We are sorry but
latecomers will not be allowed to march.
******
The
Lawnmarket is a section of the so called "Royal Mile", a
street which runs, parallel to Princes Street, from the Palace
of Holyrood in the east to Edinburgh Castle in the west. The
Lawnmarket section starts at Deacon Brodie's pub in the east
on the corner of the Mound and ends when the street becomes
Castlehill in the west. There are shops on the north side of
the Lawnmarket and Chief intends to raise his
personal banner at the western end of the Lawnmarket as it
joins Castlehill beside the Church of Scotland building. The
church of Scotland building is across the road from the Hub, a
well known Edinburgh venue.

We should remind everyone that crowds in this area
will be large; so please give yourself sufficient time to get
there.
