Members and supporters attending the Gathering and extending their stay in Scotland may find that having a good map enhances their enjoyment of the beautiful countryside around the land of their ancestors.

In the UK the Ordnance Survey (OS) publishes a range of different maps designed to suit different users:

The Landranger Series, having a scale of 1:50,000, are said to be ideal for the tourist; this is the OS map for planning day trips, short breaks and road cycling in towns or in the countryside. There are 204 titles covering the whole of England, Scotland & Wales. Just buy the one that you need.

The Explorer Series, having a scale of 1:25,000, are intended to be the essential maps for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and all outdoor enthusiasts. There are 403 titles covering England, Scotland & Wales. You just buy the one for the area that you are visiting.

The Travel Map - Tour Series with a scale of 1:100,000.  Eight titles cover popular holiday destinations across the UK, which are said to provide "an ideal reference to help the tourist get around and make the most from any trip". There is one map (OS Tour 12) covering the whole of Scotland.

The Road Maps have a scale of 1:250,000,  Eight maps cover the whole the England, Scotland,and Wales and aim to provide the ideal map for planning your road journeys. Maps 1, 2 and 3 cover Scotland.
