Why does the
deposit have to be paid to the Clan Society?

This is part of
the conditions imposed by EventScotland who are
supporting the costs of various elements of the
Gathering. Had we not done this the cost of the
Gathering to members would have been
higher. |

What happens to
my deposit?
|

|
The Society pays your deposit of £100 per
person to Scotland's Hotel to reserve your room.
This amount will be decucted from you bill when you
check out after the Gathering. Should you decide to
cancel at a later date then your deposit will be
returned via the Society. We do reserve the right to
deduct any costs that have been incurred -
particularly Tattoo tickets if these have already
been purchased. |

Why do I have to
book my package by 20th February 2017? This is more
than six months ahead of the Gathering.

The
deadline has been set based on the date given
to the Society by the organisers of the Royal Edinburgh
Military Tattoo. It will not be possible for the
Society to obtain tickets for this key event after the
deadline. Members might like to bear in mind that
publicly available Tattoo tickets sold out within
two days of being put on sale in
December. |

Why can I not make payments for the Gathering by
Electronic Transfer from a bank that is not based in the
UK?

Our
bank imposes high charges for receiving
electronic transfers from overseas banks. There
is zero mark up on the prices that we
quote to members and it would not therefore be fair to
the membership as a whole if we absorbed the bank
charges. We encourage overseas members to make their
payments by PayPal. |
