22nd August 2014
Glenisla Highland Games
*****
Members arriving early for the Gathering are encouraged to represent the Clan at the Glenisla Highland and Friendly Society Games which will be held on Friday 22nd August 2014. The Clan MacThomas Society sponsors the Hill Race at these very local games.
*****
The Games take place on the banks of the River Isla at the Haugh in Forter, Angus - on the B951 about three miles off the A93 and some four miles north-west of the Kirkton of Glenisla. The map at the foot of this page shows the route from the A93 just south of the Clan land at Clach na Coileach (The Cockstane).
****
The Clan does of course have connections with Glenisla and Forter - the 7th Chief of Clan MacThomas, McComie Mor, purchased Forter Castle, in the 1600's and is said to be buried in the churchyard of Glenisla Kirk.
