The Clach na Coileach (Cockstane) is the
ancient gathering place of the Clan MacThomas. This year
clansfolk from round the world will be gathering in the
ancient tradition to hear the words of Andrew MacThomas of
Finegand, 19th Chief of the Clan MacThomas. The
Gathering will include a display of piping by Ron Thom, the
Chief’s Personal Piper, the official Clan pipers and by
special invitation the Ems Highlander Pipes and
Drums from Emsdetten in northern Germany. For
the first time at a MacThomas Gathering, spectators will be
entertained by two historical reenactments:

the Cockstane won its name
A bloodthirsty account of how McComie
Mor administered summary justice to the feared and hated
tax gathers from Blair Atholl.
= McComie Mor’s dual
with Atholl
See how McComie Mor won the day when summoned by the
Duke of Atholl to account for the loss of the Atholl
tax collectors.

feud – Farquharson v MacThomas - 1673
One of the last recorded Clan Feuds in Scottish
history, this is the reenactment of the bloody feud fought
between the Farquharsons and the MacThomases over disputed
grazing rights in upper Glenisla.
