THE CLAN MACTHOMAS
LIBRARY
by
Rod Mooney
A book is a treasure to have
and to hold;
A furnace of knowledge that
never grows cold.
A book holds the knowledge of
ages long past,
And makes it secure as the years hurry
past.
A book can preserve all the
facts that we hold,
And pass to the young what we
learn from the old.
As each generation prepares
to depart,
A book gives the next one a firm place to
start.
And so with our clan, on each
library shelf,
We leave to our youngsters a
part of ourself.
MacThomases come and
MacThomases go.
Yet our future survives, with these books in a
row.
The next generation of clansmen now
must
Pass on to their young this inherited
trust.
Then down through the ages, we’ll all be
assured
Our clan will survive through the book’s printed
word.
